STEMpower Project

2023 Social Impact Active

During my time at STEMpower, I developed Blind Tech, a community driven assistive technology project created after directly working with visually impaired individuals in my hometown. By listening to their daily challenges and building a solution around their real needs, I was able to turn a local problem into a national achievement. The project represented STEMpower at the National Science and Engineering Fair, where it won first place. More than the award, Blind Tech stands as proof that meaningful innovation begins with empathy and courage, and that a student with determination can design solutions that restore independence and dignity to vulnerable members of society.

EAGLOPEN Founder

2022-Present Educational Leadership Growing

I founded and lead EAGLOPEN Science and Technology Organization with a long term vision to build one of Africa’s strongest science and technology movements, operating from Addis Ababa and driven by talented African youth who lack opportunity, not ability. I personally designed the program structure, teach programming and algorithms, and built academic collaborations with Adama Science and Technology University and AddisCoder to give students direct exposure to high level computer science culture. What began as small coding sessions has grown into a recognized initiative hosted within a university environment. Step by step, I transformed it from an idea into an institution that parents trust and students proudly represent. EAGLOPEN reflects my leadership, my belief in African potential, and my commitment to prepare young minds to compete beyond borders.

Summer 2023 Higher Education Completed

As Founder and Lead Instructor of the EAGLOPEN AlgoLab, hosted at Adama Science and Technology University, I train a selective group of talented Ethiopian students in programming, algorithms, and the fundamentals of artificial intelligence using the AddisCoder curriculum. Guided by the academic example of Professor Jelani Nelson, Professor at University of California, Berkeley, former Professor at Harvard University and Research Scientist at Google, alongside Professor Daniel Kang of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Professor Huacheng Yu of Princeton University, and Professor Huy Nguyen of Northeastern University, all of whom personally taught me programming and advanced algorithms during the intensive AddisCoder summer program at Addis Ababa University, I deliver high quality computer science training inside fully equipped university labs. I teach students not only how to write code, but how to think with discipline and solve problems at a global standard, opening real academic and professional paths for Ethiopian youth.
